Phoenix Contact's EX I/O is designed for installation in Class I, Div. 2 environments and allows safe connection to sensors and actuators located in hazardous Zone 1 and 0 environments. These environments require extra precautions because they may contain flammable substances such as gases, dusts and fibers. The modules limit available current to the connected sensors, reducing the possibility of combustion.
