The recession has changed the way people are behaving, especially when it comes to savings, says Peter Williams, automation and process control manager at Fonterra Co-operative Group.

The recession has changed the way people are behaving, especially when it comes to savings, says Peter Williams, automation and process control manager at Fonterra Co-operative Group, headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. During the Food and Beverage Industry Forum at Rockwell Automation Fair in Houston, Williams discussed how its key yogurt packaging machines underwent major changes to be more sustainable. Fonterra teamed up with Rockwell Automation and local contractors to make changes to its machine's HMI, servo systems and PLC communication. Learn what modifications Fonterra made to its machines that increased the production rate from 20,600 pots per hour to 21,600 pots per hours, and how it used only 5% of total cost to replace equipment in this blog entry by sister publication Plant Services.
