Acquisition Allows Both Companies to Provide a Broad Range of Device-to-Cloud Solutions for Enterprise Customers

Sierra Wireless has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire rugged in-vehicle mobile router provider, In Motion Technology, for $21 million.

The acquisition will allow Sierra Wireless and In Motion to provide a broad range of device-to-cloud solutions for enterprise customers, including simple gateways, full-featured mobile routers, and a comprehensive suite of cloud services and applications.

In Motion's routers are integrated with an advanced mobile-optimized security system and strong management and application platform. These features enable organizations to connect and manage mobile operations, vehicles and workforces more efficiently, reliably and securely, according to In Motion.

The acquisition gives both companies a strong leadership position, offering unique capabilities in segments such as public safety, transit, and commercial fleet.

The transaction is expected to close in early March 2014, subject to customary closing conditions.
