Digi-Key began 50 years ago to serve passionate hobbyists and has grown into a global distributor, offering electronic components and automation products from more than 2,400 suppliers. It distributes electronic components and digital solutions and tools for engineers, designers and machine builders in more than 180 countries.
The distributor said its team members are educated on industry trends and have reacted to the changing needs of an evolving industry for many years, and its spectrum of components will fuel production into the future. It provides components to industries such as healthcare, automotive, energy, 5G and Internet of Things (IoT).
“As we celebrate this milestone year, we want to thank our team members, customers, partners, suppliers and our Thief River Falls community,” said Dave Doherty, president of Digi-Key. “Our mutual success over these 50 years has been driven by your passion, dedication and loyalty. Together, we’ve grown and excelled, and we know that an even brighter future awaits us all.”
At its headquarters in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, team members commemorated the milestone with a week of celebration events, and Mayor Brian Holder proclaimed April 3 as “Digi-Key Day in the city of Thief River Falls.” He also highlighted the company’s commitment to the local community with more than 4,200 employees from the surrounding area.
Golioth, a commercial IoT development platform built for scale, relies on Digi-Key for components. "Digi-Key is a cornerstone of the embedded community. Engineers trust in Digi-key's tools and materials to bring innovative hardware to life. We're proud to partner with Digi-Key and look forward to better serving connected-hardware companies around the world," said Jonathan Beri, CEO of Golioth.
