Spectris, part of Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK), a testing and measurement supplier, acquired Piezocryst Advanced Sensorics, based in Graz, Austria and a provider of piezoelectric sensors.
Piezocryst’s high-precision pressure sensors and accelerometers are used in harsh, demanding applications, and the company’s sensing technology will enhance HBK’s customer offering in the automotive, aerospace & defense, energy and industrial markets. Piezocryst can leverage HBK’s global sales and service network.
HBK also acquired Dytran and MicroStrain over the last two years, and continues its focus on its pressure and vibration sensing products. Piezocryst will join the Spectris Dynamics Division and be integrated into the HBK business, and the deal is expected to close around the end of the year.
“I’m extremely excited to welcome the Piezocryst team into Spectris Dynamics and HBK. Piezocryst has a wealth of prestige and technical know-how for precision sensing in the automotive and energy sectors. With our combined capabilities, we will be market leaders in piezoelectric sensing, advancing our position as physics experts in R&D and in-process solutions,” said Ben Bryson, president of HBK.
