Mosolver servo motion actuator infuses a position feedback sensor into a high-pole-count ac motor in the same footprint as the motor alone. The resolver function combined with the motor allows for both commutation and position sensing. Small sense coils added within the motor determine rotor position. The voltages induced in these coils result from a combination of the PWM current ripple and flux steering that occurs as result of the interaction of the rotor and the stator magnetics.
