The PROFIBUS-PA book now is available in Chinese and Japanese, as well as its existing English and German versions.A Thai version is in the works. This book was written for developers of PA devices, as well as planners and end users, in the process industries. The new books can be ordered directly from these regional Profibus associations (RPAs). The German and English versions can be ordered from the Oldenbourg Verlag in Germany.

ODVA has published a network infrastructure guide for EtherNet/IP.. Network Infrastructure for EtherNet/IP: Introduction and Considerations provides an introduction to the network infrastructure used in EtherNet/IP networks, and gives users a framework for identifying the considerations that are most critical to their specific applications.  A PDF file of the guide can be downloaded for free at ODVA’s website.

Engineers Terry Blevins, Deji Chen, Mark Nixon, and Willy Wojsznis of Emerson Process Management received the Instrument, Systems, and Automation society’s Excellence in Documentation award for their ISA Expo 2006 technical paper, “Improving PID Control with Unreliable Communications.” The annual award recognizes authors for the most outstanding article, technical paper, or other document published by ISA.
