Vacon Extends Its Supplier Agreement with U.S.-Based Eaton

Global AC drives manufacturer Vacon extended its supplier agreement with U.S.-based Eaton with regard to variable-speed AC drive technology. Vacon will provide Eaton with its design expertise and latest variable-frequency drive hardware.

"Vacon and Eaton established a strategic alliance in 1998,” says Heikki Hiltunen, executive vice president, Vacon. “During the past 10 years, our relationship has deepened considerably, and today the entire Vacon product line from our smallest to the biggest MW-class AC drive is available under Eaton's name."

Eaton will promote its variable-frequency-drive offering throughout its global organization, including the recently acquired Moeller business. Through the acquisition of the Moeller business in the first quarter of 2008, Eaton expanded its position as a worldwide supplier of electrical control products and power distribution, as well as power quality equipment and systems. Eaton is now a supplier of controls for industrial equipment applications.

"This agreement enables Eaton to merge Vacon's products with its advanced technology and application expertise. The resulting drives products allow Eaton to provide solutions to a broad range of industrial, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) markets worldwide," says Robert Fenton, Eaton's product line manager, solid-state power control components.
