More than 70 companies have already signed on to exhibit at the show, including Active Silicon, Adimec, Advanced Illumination, Allied Vision Technologies, Basler AG, BitFlow, CCS America, Daitron, DALSA Coreco, Eastman Kodak, Edmund Optics, EDT, FLIR, Fujinon, Global Laser, Hamamatsu, Hitachi, Imperx, JAI PULNiX, LINOS Vision, Lumenera, Matrox, Max Levy, Microview, Mikron Infrared, Moritex, National Instruments, NET USA, NorPix, Photonfocus, Photron, Pleora, Point Grey, PPT Vision, Schneider Optics, SCHOTT, SICK, Siemens Energy & Automation, Sony, StockerYale, Tamron, Tattile, Toshiba Teli, and Vision Components.

The accompanying conference, which begins on Monday, May 8, features in-depth tutorials and sessions on topics such as an introduction to machine vision inspection; lighting & optics: the basics; advanced lighting & optics; specifying and integrating machine vision solutions for automation applications; selecting machine vision systems and components; 3-D machine vision solutions; advances in smart cameras and sensors; machine vision software for pattern matching, classification and inspection; non visible imaging; selecting the right camera interface for your needs; successful machine vision applications; advances in machine vision lighting & optics; and advances in color vision. More than 2000 engineers and manufacturers from throughout the world are expected to participate in The Vision Show East, which was last held in Boston in May 2004.

Jeffrey A. Burnstein, executive director of the Automated Imaging Association (AIA), noted that the Nanotech 2006 event, sponsored by NSTI (Nano Science and Technology Institute) will take place at the Hynes Convention Center during The Vision Show East, creating powerful synergies for attendees. "This will be a great opportunity for nanotechnology companies to find the latest machine vision products and for vision suppliers to meet new potential customers in the emerging nanotechnology field."

Founded in 1984, AIA now represents more than 245 machine vision suppliers, system integrators, users, researchers, and consulting firms from 24 nations. For more information about the AIA and The Vision Show East, visit www.machinevisiononline.org or call (734) 994-6088.
