Eclipse Automation deployed one machine to make multiple automotive parts, using the eXtended Transport System from Beckhoff Automation

Eclipse Automation delivered a new transmission pump assembly system to a tier-one automotive supplier, and the machine builds multiple automotive parts in a compact footprint. Using the eXtended Transport System (XTS) from Beckhoff Automation, it can build two different pumps at the same time, and includes four separate cells with more than 50 stations for pressing, soldering, screwdriving, flatness checks with LVDTs (linear variable differential transformers), dispensing, plasma treatment, leak testing, inspection and other processes. The adaptive mechatronics of XTS allow the automotive supplier to produce parts with different pitches and product changeover times were greatly reduced.
