Pepperl+Fuchs’ Class I, Div. 1 smartphone receives T-Mobile network certification

Human-machine interfaces have expanded and evolved to include mobile devices that allow remote connectivity to machinery. Sometimes that can be in hazardous areas.

Pepperl+Fuchs’ intrinsically safe Smart-Ex 03 smartphone, with 5G functionality and approval for use in hazardous areas worldwide, received network certification with T-Mobile, making it a Class I, Div. 1 smartphone on the T-Mobile network.

The collaboration between T-Mobile and Pepperl+Fuchs is designed to provide products that enhance productivity, improve operational efficiency and enable real-time communication for hazardous areas.

T-Mobile network certification assures overall device performance on the T-Mobile network, allowing Smart-Ex 03 users to run applications, access real-time data and communicate in hazardous areas.

Designed for a temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C, the Smart-Ex 03 includes a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass display. A replaceable 4,400 mAh battery is designed to enable coverage of 24-hour shifts. And with up to 128 GB of internal memory, the Smart-Ex 03 is designed to handle digital documents and records.
