Hiwin’s PG series linear encoder is integrated directly into a linear guideway bearing. For the machine builder, this simplifies the design and assembly. Because the encoder is integral to the linear bearing, no provision for mounting an external linear encoder is needed, saving space and component cost. The encoder read-head is pre-aligned to the scale. This saves considerable time during assembly, since a separate encoder alignment procedure isn’t needed. The PG encoder is very robust and insensitive to contaminants, such as oils and debris, providing long life. It is ideal for shop floor environments.Â
