Germany-headquartered manufacturer of sensors, connectivity and fieldbus technology for factory, logistics and process automation hands US reins to automation-industry veteran

Aurelio Banda became president and chief executive officer of Turck USA at the end of July. Turck is a global manufacturer of sensors, connectivity and fieldbus technology for factory, logistics and process automation, headquartered in Germany.

“I look forward to helping Turck build on the groundbreaking work they’ve done over the past 50 years to continue to innovate in the solutions space,” says Banda. “The OEM market demands the highest quality, and Turck has the right people and the right experience to provide the components and customized solutions they need.”

Banda was chosen by Turck’s board of directors. "The board is pleased to have found such an excellent fit to assume leadership of Turck," says Dr. Thomas Beck, chairman of the Turck board. "Aurelio has an extensive resume with nearly 36 years of experience, mostly focused in the distribution and manufacture of automation components, systems and sub-assemblies. His successful background working for firms active in our industry will be an enormous benefit."

Most recently, Banda was a senior vice president and group executive at Motion, an automation component distributor with $8.4 billion in global sales in 2022. He led the company’s automation and fluid-power strategy, and with his team leveraged automation technology and fluid power products to help customers streamline their processes and improve manufacturing efficiencies.

Prior to his time at Motion, Banda served in executive leadership or CEO roles at PHD and Beckhoff Automation. Banda was also the owner, president and CEO of Controls Plus, an automation distributor.

"I'd like to thank the board of directors and everyone else involved in the selection process," said Banda. "I’m honored by the trust they’re placing in me and eager to lead a company with a strong reputation for corporate responsibility, design excellence and customer focus. Any leader would welcome the chance to step into this role, and I’m so pleased to have this tremendous opportunity."

Banda is a graduate of DeVry University with a degree in applied science, has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and completed Harvard Business School’s general management program.

“Turck has always provided high quality components with a people-first approach,” says Banda. “I’m very excited about the progress they’ve made in packaging individual components to provide complex, customer-focused solutions, and I believe Turck is well-positioned to lead the way as customers increasingly look to add smart solutions to their manufacturing environments.”
